Why EFT Is The Solution You Have Been Searching For
Typical recommended therapy for ADHD are talk therapies like CBT. This is a 'top down' approach, meaning you explore how the thoughts impact your emotions and feelings. While such therapies do work, a lot of neurodivergent people find they don't really help - with good explanation why!
EFT Tapping on the other hand is a psycho-somatic (mind-body) therapeutic approach. I also apply Polyvagal Theory informed principles meaning we work 'bottom-up'. We start with any sensations in your body to release and regulate emotions, before moving on to limiting thought patterns and beliefs.
This approach honours the fact that ADHD brain and nervous system works differently, making it more difficult to manage emotional reactions. Rather than just assuming the big emotional reactions are solely influenced by your thoughts.
In reality it's a two way communication between your mind (thoughts + beliefs) and body (unique ADHD brain + nervous system). EFT has been proven to improve both - emotional and physical symptoms.

What sets EFT apart is its profound impact on the brain. Research has shown that EFT can:
Why Choose EFT?
EFT stands out among therapeutic techniques for several compelling reasons. As already mentioned it positively influences the brain regions impacted by ADHD. Its approach is designed to be gentle yet powerful, offering a carefully paced method for addressing emotional challenges.
While working with any form of therapy involves some level of emotional engagement, EFT's structured technique aims to minimise distress when dealing with sensitive issues. Directly talking about the issue isn't necessary when using EFT Tapping. This makes it a valuable tool for approaching even deeply rooted concerns, always moving at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for the individual.
EFT's Versatility
The structured technique is remarkably easy to learn, allowing you to start applying EFT from your very first session. It's backed by a growing body of scientific research, validating its effectiveness for various conditions.
EFT's versatility means it can address a wide range of emotional and physical issues, often leading to improvements in multiple areas of life simultaneously. Perhaps most importantly, EFT is empowering – it gives you tools for ongoing self-help and emotional management, reducing your dependence on external support over time.
How many EFT sessions will I need?
It's like the old age question - how long is the string? The number of sessions varies greatly depending on where you are currently and your goals. I recommend to initially commit to 4-6 weekly or bi-weekly sessions. Then review if any more are needed and transition to once per month.
Can EFT help with ADHD?
Many clients with ADHD find that EFT improves ADHD symptoms especially emotional outbursts, sleep and overthinking. fMRI brain scans have showed improvement in various regions of the brain that are typically affected by ADHD. However, as with any medical conditions it's always important to consult with your doctor about any symptoms you're experiencing.
Can I do EFT on my own between sessions?
Absolutely! I encourage clients to practice EFT tapping daily (even for as little as 1-2 minutes). I'll teach you techniques and share guided practices you can use on your own to reinforce our work together.
Is online EFT as effective as in-person sessions?
Online EFT sessions can be just as effective as in-person sessions if not more so for people with ADHD. Many clients find the comfort of their own home (or car) benefits for doing deeper emotional work.
How is EFT different from traditional talk therapy?
While EFT incorporates elements of talk therapy, it adds the physical component of tapping. This mind-body approach can often lead to faster relief and more lasting results than talk therapy alone.
The beautiful thing about EFT is that you DO NOT need to talk, know or remember any past issues you’re clinging on to. There are various EFT techniques that can be used to release the problem without actually knowing any specific details about it.
Are there any side effects of EFT?
EFT is generally considered very safe. Some people may experience emotional intensity during sessions as they process feelings, but this typically leads to relief and is perfectly normal. If you have any concerns at any point of our time together, please let me know so we can discuss these.
I also encourage you to consult a doctor or any other qualified medical professional that will know of your medical history about any of your current issues.
